AOP NetworkのKnapen氏が書いてたので、読んでみました。
AOP（Adverse Outcome Pathways）は、生物の複雑さを表現するにはシンプル過ぎるし、でも使用するには複雑過ぎる、という話。それに対し、Knapen氏はスティーブ・ジョブズを引用しながら、今は過渡期だからエレガントではないけど、あと何か"key, the underlying principle of the problem"が見つかれば、AOPは生物の複雑さを考慮しつつもエレガントに使えるようになるよ、と述べてます（意訳）。現状と方向性はおおむね同意でした。ただ生物の複雑さ（毒性メカニズムとか）の知見が揃っているとは自分はあまり思ってないのですが、魚（Knapen氏はゼブラフィッシュなどを扱ってるようす）と無脊椎の違いでしょうか。
冒頭の以下の文章笑いました。"AOPs are thus often perceived as being too simple and too complex at the same time, raising concerns that they may in fact slow down hazard and risk assessment instead of being a catalyst for supporting 21st century toxicology."
